Counting Calories and other nutrition facts

Hi,

I wanted to welcome the people from the Made to Crave bible study done by Melissa Taylor.  I am looking forward to the accountability from each of you.  If you would, please leave me a comment and let me know that you have found my blog, and that you are ready to start the journey with me.

I've been counting since November, but I will start over with you so that we are working at the same pace.  I've been using sparkpeople to record my calories online as well as pen and paper just recording my nutrition facts in a 3 ring binder.

To get on the same page, I'll let you know that I am supposed to be on a low fat low cholesterol diet, but I haven't managed to get my numbers in the right ranges yet.  I have been counting more than calories.  I'm counting

  • Calories
  • Fat
  • Cholesterol
  • Sodium
  • Carbs
  • Protein
I've found that based on a 2000 calorie diet the daily sodium intake should be 2400 grams, daily cholesterol below 300, daily carbs 229, and daily fat 44 grams.  Protein should be about 46 grams daily.

But I am going back to the start, those are just some target numbers for you to keep in mind and try to work toward in time.  But to start, I would like you to introduce yourself, and tell me why you want to embark on this journey.  Then starting on Sunday, I would like you to just keep a food diary, recording everything you eat and drink for the week, and post on Saturday to check in and let me know an average of where you are, and then set tiny goals for the first week.  (I'll post more about my initial goals later).  My hope for you is that you set small achievable goals that you can reach so that we together can work on maintaining a lifestyle change long term, as opposed to quick results that don't last.
